Wednesday nights in the Babbage Space at Basestation is normally a Tinkd maker’s session, but this evening saw some festival related activities as we hosted the official launch for the fourth edition of STEMFest.
We started the evening with a karakia from Kaumatua Tamati – a long time friend and supporter of the festival.
Our Project Manager Soraya officially welcomed our headline sponsor for 2025, Ballance Agri-Nutrients, and introduced our STEMFest 2025 Ambassador, Rebecca Drake.

We announced some confirmed exhibits and a special guest video message from Josh King an Eblacks player who represents the NZ Esports industry. We also teased at a possible collaboration with kiwi company Eight380 with their awesome Nova 360 simulator.
There were some fun activities for guests to participate in (to get a tiny taste of what to expect) and we loved seeing our younger AND older guests participate in playing football with mini robots from the team at Tauranga City Libraries as well as discovering biology with the House of Science team and fun AR activity with Ballance.

The Board of STEM Wana Trust would like to extend a huge thanks to our generous sponsors and funders and to everyone who came to the event to offer their support and encouragement, and to our amazing volunteers who work so tirelessly in the background to make all our events so engaging.

A special thank you to Amit Kamble for his great photography and capturing the night’s festivities and to Basestation for allowing us to take over the event space with bunting and lights!
The first batch of free tickets are still available via this link.
